Pastor: Matt McGahen

My wife, Bridget, and I have served in several ministry contexts across the country (including NYC, Colorado, and Washington) and we look forward to using the experience and gifts God has placed in us for His kingdom work here in our Fulton and Montgomery counties. We have two young kids that we adore so much, as well as a weird and loving goldendoodle. On top of serving God’s church, I enjoy spending time in the mountains hiking and camping, playing and winning board games, reading sci-fi books, and sharing a good charcuterie board. My favorite verse changes almost monthly, but at the moment I’m really chewing on Luke 23:42, when one of the criminals on the cross with Jesus says to our Lord – “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” It’s a tear-jerking reminder of a humble posture we are to take in recognizing our place as well as recognizing the throne of Jesus.

Ministry Assistant: Kathy Calabrese

I am married and have 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. I like spending time with family, riding four wheelers, swimming, and doing anything outdoors when it’s warm. One Bible verse that I find myself saying a lot is Psalm 139:23-24. “Search me O God, and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Leadership Team:

In addition to Pastor Matt - the Leadership Team consists of these servant leaders that assist the pastor where they can and lead from a place of desiring to be responsive to the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs in the life of the church. Amongst many other tasks, these deacons care for the needy, guard the ministry of the word, organize and mobilize our people, preserve unity, and pray diligently for our community. They care for the health of our church in a tangible way and seek the overall flourishing of our fellowship.

Matt McGahen

I currently serve on the Leadership team, Hospitality, and as a Greeter.  I have 3 daughters, sons-in-law, 7 grands, and 2 little great grandsons.  I enjoy family times together, music, walking, games and time with friends.  My life verse has been Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You."  I enjoy the family atmosphere at FCC.

Wendy Brush

I currently serve on the Leadership Team and help teach and lead our teen group. I am especially energized to mentor young men in their faith one-on-one. My wife Sally and I have been involved with FCC since its inception. It has been a great adventure walking with the Lord and we have seen God work wonderfully at Fulmont all these years. I enjoy boating, fishing, baseball, riding our side-by-side, and spending time with my family, including our new grandchild. I am a local family physician with St. Mary’s and have a special interest in helping people battle opioid addiction. I also serve as medical director for Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, and Lexington ARC, which supports many people in our area with special needs. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Kevin Cope

I am a co-Ministry Leader (with my wife, Patty) of the IT Team and I am currently serving on the Leadership Team. I am also one of the teachers of the teen FCC Kids class and have served on the Pastor Search Team. My hobbies include traveling, having BBQ picnics with my family, using various Artificial Intelligence tools to create video games with my son, and assisting my daughter with her books and songs. My day job is related to figuring out the best place for rocks to do math, so I like how Luke 19:39-40 talks about stones giving praise to Jesus if someone tries to stop his followers from praising Him: Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” He replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Todd Deshane

I currently serve on the leadership team. I also teach with FCC Kids, sing on the worship team, and at times organize fellowship events such as the sometimes annual chili cook off. My husband, Tom, and I have two grown children and two delightful grandchildren. I’m a retired teacher, having taught special education for over 30 years. Now I enjoy traveling and square dancing, sometimes at the same time! A verse that has been special to me over the years is Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble.”

Diane Poquette

And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.

Ephesians 4:11-13
